Certified, Quality Control & Safety Management

LEDP undergoes a comprehensive licensing renewal by the State of Massachusetts every two years and maintains membership in the National AfterSchool Association (NAA). All staff are certified in First Aid and CPR, and key staff are trained in special education. Staff also participate in Brookline professional development on topics such as behavioral management, bullying prevention, and emergency preparedness. Additional training includes homework support, executive function, peer leadership, nutrition, and communication.

Ideal Location

LEDP is located at Lawrence School, allowing for a safe and seamless transition to after-school programming. This proximity supports strong communication with classroom teachers and a collaborative, school-wide approach to student success.

High-Caliber Staff

A parent-led Board supports a Director who leads the program. LEDP staff include experienced educators with diverse backgrounds and specialties such as art, music, athletics, and academic support. The program also connects with local resources, including museums, parks, and community organizations, to enrich student experiences.

Academically and Socially Aligned Program

LEDP programming complements the school-day curriculum with engaging, age-appropriate activities. The program includes homework time for grades 1–6, as well as structured and unstructured activities and field trips. Programming evolves as students progress through grades K–6. Annual feedback from families, teachers, and students helps guide improvements.

The LEDP Board and Director foster a flexible, collaborative environment that maximizes resources, staff, and space to best support students.

Essential Coverage for Working Families

LEDP operates from 2:20 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on school days and offers additional coverage during February and April vacations, select holidays, and professional development days. On early release days, the program begins at 12:00 or 12:30 p.m. for registered students.

LEDP’s supportive community fosters meaningful connections among students and families. Many students and alumni share that their strongest friendships were formed through the program.
